Quick-start steps, care guides and product documents for Megahome distillers. Always follow the printed manual supplied with your unit; the steps below are a summary for everyday use.

Quick start

  1. Unpack and rinse. Remove all packaging, then rinse the boiling chamber and the collection bottle with clean water.
  2. Fit the carbon post-filter. Place an activated-carbon sachet in the nozzle holder on the lid.
  3. Fill with tap water up to the marked maximum line. Do not overfill.
  4. Fit the lid and place the bottle under the nozzle, on a flat, heat-resistant surface with space around the unit for air flow.
  5. Plug in and switch on. A 4-litre batch takes about 5.5–6 hours. The unit switches off automatically at the end of the cycle.
  6. Let it cool before emptying the residue and rinsing the chamber.

Everyday use

  • Many owners run a batch overnight — the cooling fan is audible, at roughly the level of a desk fan.
  • You do not need a timer: the distiller switches itself off at the end of the cycle. Please do not run it through a plug-in timer — many are not built for the continuous load of a heating appliance, and damage caused by a timer is not covered by the warranty.
  • Store distilled water in a clean glass or food-grade container, closed, away from direct sunlight.
  • Only distil water. Never distil petroleum, solvents or other hazardous liquids.

Cleaning and descaling

  1. Unplug the unit and let it cool completely.
  2. Rinse the boiling chamber after every batch.
  3. When white scale appears, descale with citric acid (more often with hard or well water), then rinse thoroughly.
  4. Replace the activated-carbon post-filter as the instructions specify.
  5. Wipe dust from the fan and air vents every few months, and check the lid gasket.
